Helen Dean, Project Co-ordinator at CCB, is funded by Scottish Power Energy People Trust to deliver advice sessions to low income families in Berkshire as well as to front-line workers who support low income families.
Helen is always zipping up and down the county to Slough, Bracknell, Wokingham, Windsor & Maidenhead and West Berkshire ensuring those most at need receive this valuable advice and support that can make a real difference to their household bills.
The below gives a brief example of the people that Helen supports during an average week;
“This week I trained 22 Homestart Volunteers, Bracknell Children’s Centre staff and members of Bracknell Family Intervention team at the Homestart team meeting this Monday, 15.1.18. I would like to thank Homestart manager Tessa Dove for extending the invitation to the training to partners that Homestart work with.”
A Homestart volunteer that Helen trained said “I found it interesting to know what services are out there, and pass on all the information to not only my families (that I support), but also my family and friends.”
Those trained at this one session said they would be able to pass on the information, advice and guidance to an estimated 102 families they support in the next six months.
Also in the last week Helen visited the Curve at Slough Library and gave a talk to a mother & baby group ran by Slough Health Visitors and Nursery Nurses. One of the mums who was at the baby group at The Curve said after the talk: “ I never thought I could save money by switching. I will be looking into comparing costs this evening”.
